A Glimpse into History

Built during the 17th century by Raja Madho Singh, the younger brother of Man Singh I, who was an army general in Akbar's army.

The fort came to be known after *Bhan Singh**, a local saint whose blessing had been sought before construction.

The town, which was once prosperous, was abandoned a few centuries later, said to be over a curse.

The architecture is of *typical Mughal and Rajput styles**, with the temples, palaces, and bazaars lying in ruins.

The Legends Haunting Bhangarh

Bhangarh's eerie reputation is based on two main legends:

1. The Curse of the Sadhu

They say a hermit, *Balu Nath**, lived on the premises of the fort.

He permitted the construction on one condition: *none of his hut must be shaded.

When the fort's height would later obstruct the sunlight, he cursed the entire town, toppling it.

2. The Tantrik and the Princess

One of the town's magicians, *Singhia**, was enchanted by Princess Ratnavati.

He tried to woo her with a love potion, but she saw through the trick and spat it out on a rock.

The rock entombed him, and in his dying breath, he cursed Bhangarh to destruction.

These stories have given Bhangarh its haunted and mystical ambiance, and some tourists report odd sensations within the fort.

⏰ Best Time to Visit

October to February is the most suitable time due to favorable weather.

Try not to visit during the summer months (April–June) as it is extremely hot with temperatures going over 40°C.

Visiting Hours: 6 AM to 6 PM only—night entry is strictly prohibited by the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).

How to Reach Bhangarh Fort

1. By Air:

Nearest Airport: *Jaipur International Airport** (approximately 90 km away).

Either get a taxi or travel by bus from Jaipur to access Bhangarh.

2. Train:

Closest rail stations: * Jaipur (90 km) * and Alwar (50 km).

One can be dropped to the fort at either station using taxis or public buses.

3. By Road:

You can get easily access the city of * Jaipur, Delhi (270 km) *, as well as Alwar, via road.

You may rent a car or go on a day trip from surrounding cities.
